Vestas is to deliver turbines totalling 100MW to a subsidiary of cement and pretrochemicals company Petroquímica Comodoro Rivadavia for the Bicentenario wind farm in Argentina.
The deal is for the supply and installation of V117-3.45MW turbines optimised to 3.6MW at the project in Santa Cruz province.
Delivery is planned for the fourth quarter of 2017, with installation expected in the third quarter of next yea.
The contract also includes a 10-year active output management 5000 service agreement.
Petroquímica Comodoro Rivadavia president Martin Brandi said: “By entering the wind market, we will diversify our operations whilst contributing to the greater good, which is reaching Argentina’s renewable energy targets.”
Vestas Mediterranean president Marco Graziano said: “In just six months, we have signed about 500MW in the country, which clearly underlines our customers’ trust and confidence in our products, our experience and our team.”
